HI-ON HEACHAM
I set off early from home to meet young master Joe "dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga dugga bom tah psssssssst!" Laz at St. Pancras. We were to meet up with the rest of the lads at Nottingham for the drive to Heacham. Joe and I arrived at Nottingham station and sought out the nearest pub, informing the Sat Nav Crew that we were on Station Street, Nottingham. Not accounting for the fact that there is more than one Station Street in Nottingham!!!! Eventually they located us and we set off (with some incredibly bad-taste jokes from this weekend's vocalist Mr Byrom, formerly of Ironically Maiden).
We arrived at the venue around 5pm, and leisurely began setting up. I had been experimenting with me laptop and found out I could film the gig (with fairly good sound) from the side of the stage. Despite the organizer whipping his knob out in front of it, the results were alright and will soon be found on the "Downloads" page...
Speed "Have you heard the one about the...?" Harris had some new card tricks to show us, so we meandered over to the nearby club for our dinner (kindly laid on by the venue). We aren't always looked after as well as we were at this gig, so BIG thanks go out to the incredible Trevor who sorted us out with a variety of beverages, grub, photos and local colour. What a star! If only more venues gave us the VIP treatment!
The camera rolled, "Doctor, Doctor" started and we were on. We had apparently sucked most of the power from the venue, so we encountered two power-cuts (one in the middle of our first song!). We dealt with this in typically professional fashion..."It appears that my codpiece has sucked the juice out of the place!"
The crowd were right up for it, and we all had a blast on stage. There were some interesting aromas late on (someone's dinner came back to haunt them, but no-one was willing to own up to the brown thunder) but by and large everything went smoothly after the initial stop-start-stop-start. The resulting footage is quite spectacular in places, with Mr Adrian "no point in having superfluous gear" Swift sharing several special moments with the camera. Definitely a venue we will revisit in the future.
A long gap between now and our next gig, so this is the last diary for a while. Thanks to everyone who's supported us this year through lineup changes and adverse weather conditions. Eventually it'll all be as smooth as it once was...
...somewhere in time!
(Incidentally I'm posting this from a train! Isn't technology marvellous? Young Joe was mucking about with it for a while, I'd better check he wasn't searching for any more soft tits...)
